Also scored 'Born Free' (1966), 'The Lion in Winter' (1968), 'Midnight Cowboy' (1969), 'The Deep' (1977), 'Somewhere in Time' (1980), 'Out of Africa' (1985) and 'Dances with Wolves' (1990)
Inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame (1998)

Why he might be annoying:

He has been divorced three times.
He moved from England to Spain for tax purposes.
He won a worst score Razzie for 'The Legend of the Lone Ranger' (1981).
He claims to be the composer of the 'James Bond Theme' and that songwriter Monty Norman received credit solely because of a prior contract with the film producers.
Norman has won two libel suits against newspapers that repeated Barry's claims.

Why he might not be annoying:

He won five Oscars and four Grammys for his film scores.
No matter who wrote the 'James Bond Theme,' it was Barry's arrangement that made it so memorable.
