    Its West Point area is one of Liberia's most dangerous places.
    It was hit hard by the Western African Ebola virus epidemic.

    Like Washington, D.C., it is one of the two capital cities in the world to be named after a U.S. President.
    It was Africa's second African American settlement following Freetown, Sierra Leone.
    U.S. forces used its harbor as a source for rubber exports in World War II.
    It is home to some beaches, a Waterside Market, four universities and the Liberian National Museum.
    The Women of Liberia Mass Action for Peace movement ended the Second Liberian Civil Wars and helped elected Ellen Johnson Sirleaf to be the first female president of an African country here.
    Its sister cities are Taipei, Taiwan and Dayton, Ohio.
