Why he might be annoying:

He was expelled from Harvard for 'irresponsibility.'
Except for the geodesic dome, few of his ideas were ever put to use.
While traveling, he wore three watches: one for the time zone where he was, one for the time zone he had left and one for the zone he was going to.
He was incredibly long-winded.

Why he might not be annoying:

He received the gold medal from the American Institute of Architects.
The geodesic dome is the only man-made structure to become proportionately stronger as it gets larger.
A form of carbon discovered in 1985 was named fullerenes (and nicknamed 'buckyballs') because of the molecules' resemblance to geodesic domes.
He popularized the phrase 'spaceship earth.'
The Whole Earth Catalog raved 'Fuller's lectures have a raga quality of rich nonlinear endless improvisation full of convergent surprises.'
