Why he might be annoying:

    He's was almost always seen smoking.
    His first wife, Sandra Dawn Thompson, used to partake in his drug and alcohol binges which led to several miscarriages.
    He ran for Sheriff of Pitkin County, Colorado, citing that he would rename Aspen to 'Fat City,' decriminalize the sale and possession of drugs and tear up the downtown streets and replace them with bike paths.
    When he was high or drunk, he would, at times, beat his wife Sandy.
    After one of his drunken rampages, Sandy called the police. When they got there, they asked her if he possessed any firearms and she said, 'Yes, 22 of them and everyone is loaded.'
    He got divorced.
    He was charged for possession of child pornography. After not finding anything during an 11 hour search of his house, the DA dropped the charges.
    He said: 'I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me.'
    His nickname was 'Doctor Gonzo.'
    He was neighbors with Don Johnson, who he worked with when writing the pilot for 'Nash Bridges.'
    He fatally shot himself. (February 20, 2005)

    He loved riding motorcycles.
    He had a one-on-one interview with Richard M. Nixon where they only discussed football.
    The character 'Duke,' in the 'Doonesbury' comic strip, is based on him.
    Back when George W. Bush was a young coke head, he attended one of Hunter's Super Bowl parties.
    Two of his books, 'Where the Buffalo Roam' and 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,' were turned into movies. A third, 'The Rum Diary,' is in the works and will also star Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro, who were both in 'Fear and Loathing...'
    He founded the Gonzo Papers, which were a series of books with his articles covering the end of the 70's, the 80's and the 90's.
    He allowed Johnny Depp to live with him for a few months so he could study the way he lived.
