Why he might be annoying:

His nickname is Little Spielberg from Sindelfingen.
He has a weird interest in disaster films, directing three and listing films like 'The Poseidon Adventure,' 'The Towering Inferno' and 'Earthquake' as his favorite films.
He frequently casts the same group of actors in his films (most notably Erick Avari and Leon Rippy).
Despite the disappointing box office results for 'Godzilla,' Roland continues to make special effects-action-disaster films.

His debut film 'The Noah's Ark Principle' was the most expensive student film ever produced in Germany and was chosen as the official opening film of the 1983 Berlin film festival.
He was an avid painter and sculptor before attending film school in Munich.
He is a very successful director, with his films grossing over $2.2 billion, worldwide.
In 1994 (after 'Moon 44') he teamed with producer Dean Devlin to form the very successful Centropolis Films Production company.
