The Resume

    (1972- )
    Alaskan State Trooper (2001-2014)
Central figure in the Alaska Troopergate investigation (2008)
Married Sarah Palin's sister, Molly McCann, in 2001 (later separated in 2005)
Divorce proceedings and domestic violence accusations allegedly resulted in the firing of Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan, by Gov. Palin, after he refused to fire Wooten (Jul. 2008)
Firing led to a two separate investigations as to whether or not Governor Palin had violated ethics laws by firing Monegan

Why he might be annoying:

He married and divorced four times.
He had a long list of reprimands as a state trooper.
The infractions included illegally shooting a moose and drinking beer in his patrol car.
He was accused of taking illegal testosterone supplements.
He was accused of exhibiting abusive and intimidating tendencies toward Molly McCann.
He was accused of repeatedly threatening to shoot his father-in-law if McCann hired a divorce attorney.
He also reportedly made threats to 'take down' McCan's sister (although she wasn't made aware of the threat until months later).
He admitted to illegally using a taser on his eleven year-old stepson in front of his niece.
Internal investigation of his conduct resulted in a ten-day suspension - which was later demoted to a five-day suspension after a police union protest (2006).
His sister-in-law's election to the governorship, later the same year, sparked a two year push to have him removed from the force, ultimately culminating in the firing of the state Public Safety Commissioner for refusing to do so.

Why he might not be annoying:

His personal life and marital problems were placed under an intense microscope during the 2008 Presidential election.
The push to have him fired was very likely born out of a personal family vendetta against him.
Internal reviews cleared him of several charges, including physical violence towards McCann and shooting wolves from a helicopter.
When he was interviewed by CNN about the probe, he said: 'I made mistakes. I fessed up to them. I was punished appropriately, and I'm moving on [and trying to] be the best dad I can to my children. Be the best trooper that I can be. You know, I love my job.'
He was reportedly happy for his sister-in-law when she was announced as John Mccain's Presidential running mate.
