The 1984 games were the first privately financed Olympics and among the most profitable.
He was named Time Magazine's 'Man of the Year' (1984).
He reinstated Willie Mays and Mickey Mantle after they were banned for promoting casinos.
He came down hard on baseball players who were using drugs.
He forced the Cubs to finally install lights at Wrigley Field (1987).
Every major league baseball club was profitable or breaking even when he left the commissioner post.
He led the task force that cleaned up Los Angeles after the riots (1992).
