    Appeared on Broadway in 'The Most Happy Fella' (1956) and 'Grand Hotel' (1992)
    Appeared in touring productions of 'Sweet Charity,' 'Oklahoma,' 'Damn Yankees,' 'The Owl and the Pussycat' and 'The Nutcracker'
    Founded the multi-media dance company Bethune Theatredanse (1980)
    Killed in an apparent hit-and-run accident after she got out of her car to try to help an injured animal in Griffith Park, Los Angeles

    He work earned commendations from Presidents Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.
    She said about the children she taught, 'The essence of dance comes from your spirit -- and these children's spirits are not disabled.'
