Why she might be annoying:

She liked to be called MIss Lillian.
She criticized her local church for organizing a mission to Africa because there was so much to be done in the US. Presumably all of the problems in America were solved by 1966 when she went to India with the Peace Corps.
She said, 'When I look at my four children sometimes I say to myself, Lillian, you should have stayed a virgin.'
Asked by the 'Book of Lists' to name the greatest presidents, she placed Jimmy ahead of George Washington.

Why she might not be annoying:

She had black visitors to her home enter through the front door rather than the back, as was the custom of the day.
At 65, she quit her nursing job at a convalescent home because 'most of the patients are younger than I.'
She went to India as a Peace Corps volunteer at age 68.
She said, 'I am a Christian but that doesn't mean I'm a long-faced square.'
