The Resume

    (January 18, 1974-March 6, 1978)
    ABC
    Lee Majors as Steve Austin
    Richard Anderson as Oscar Goldman
Allan Oppenheimer as Dr. Rudy Wells (1973-1974)
Martin Brooks as Dr. Rudy Wells (1975-1978)
Lindsay Wagner as Jaime Sommers (recurring, 1976-1978)
Opening narration (Oscar): Steve Austin, astronaut. A man barely alive. Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first bionic man. Steve Austin will be that man. Better than he was before. Better. Stronger. Faster.

Why Six Million Dollar Man might be annoying:

The letters to the show's title appeared one-by-one as they would on a typewriter.
Steve's arm was attached to the rest of his body instead of to a continuous metal structure.
He had a bionic eye and arm, both on his right side but neither on his left (which, apparently, weren't damaged in the NASA crash).
Not only did he battle his fair share of villains and spies, he did battle with aliens, extraterrestrials, a bionic Bigfoot, and an uncontrollable seven-million-dollar man!
It combined with its spinoff, the Bionic Woman, to spawn a triad of barely-remembered reunion movies.

Why Six Million Dollar Man might not be annoying:

The futuristic theme music started off nice and easy, slowly building into its crescendo.
It was an integral part of the era of escapist fantasy that would later help ABC to its first ever number-one finish as a network.
Most slow-motion sequences (the highlight of the show) showed him running.
Steve Austin was not only one of the most popular characters of the 70s, but one of the most memorable of all time (Just look at the lunch boxes and action figures!).
The reunion movies tended to downplay the bionic aspects of Steve's life (and by the same token, Jaime's) and focus more on how he related to those close to him.
