Why she might be annoying:

The idea for the Baby Sitters Club books originated with Jean Feiwel, an editor at Scholastic Books: 'Jean had noticed that, in the school market, books about babysitting and about clubs or groups of friends were selling very well.'
She estimated that she wrote 60 to 80 of the 200+ Baby Sitter Club titles, with the remainder having been ghostwritten.
She admitted, 'I got lots of letters from enthusiastic readers who had tried to start their own [baby sitters] clubs, and they hadn't worked.'

Why she might not be annoying:

She taught children with learning disabilities, including dyslexia and autism.
She fostered over a hundred kittens.
The Baby Sitters Club series sold over 170 million books.
She said about the Baby Sitter Club books, 'I wouldn't say I had a feminist agenda, but I certainly had a feminist perspective.'
When she donated her papers to her alma mater, Smith College (2016), they attracted so much attention that one curator at the school called it 'the single most noteworthy acquisition we have made' in the past fifteen years.
