Why they might be annoying:

They promoted themselves by spray painting ‘Flipper Rules’ around San Francisco.
During an early gig, Williams knocked out Shatter by swinging his mic stand.
Williams, Shatter and Dougherty all died of heroin overdoses.
Loose described the band’s history as ‘like Spinal Tap, except the bass player keeps dying.’
Trouser Press described their music as sounding like ‘your car on the verge of a total breakdown or your worst hangover nightmare amped up to brain-splitting volume.’

Why they might not be annoying:

    Falconi was a Vietnam vet.
The generic look of their debut ‘Album’ was copied by Public Image Ltd. for their ‘Album.’ (Flipper responded by calling one of their live albums ‘Public Flipper Limited.’)
SF Weekly described their ‘Sex Bomb Baby’ as ‘punk’s ‘Stairway to Heaven.’’
They were an influence on Nirvana, with Kurt Cobain wearing a self-made Flipper t-shirt during the band’s first appearance on Saturday Night Live.
Henry Rollins said, ‘They were just heavy. Heavier than you. Heavier than anything…. When they played, they were amazing.'
