Why Sapporo, Japan might be annoying:

Being a relatively young city by Japanese standards, it doesn't have a lot of traditional architecture.
Its TV tower vaguely resembles a miniature Eiffel Tower.
It was originally meant to host the 1940 Winter Olympics, but it was cancelled due to the Second Sino-Japanese War.
17.5% of the city was destroyed by Allied bombing during World War II, killing 190, injuring 6,788, and leaving 78,000 homeless. (July 14-15, 1945)

Why Sapporo, Japan might not be annoying:

Unlike many cities in Honshu, its development was carefully planned, using the American-style grid plan as its main layout.
Its annual snow festival, which occurs every February, attracts millions of tourists worldwide.
It is famous for its beer and cuisine, specifically ramen.
In fact, it is the birthplace of miso ramen.
It has a ramen-themed theme park.
