    Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana
    Guard for the Boston Celtics (1968–75), Spirits of St. Louis (ABA) (1975–76), Los Angeles Lakers (1976–77) and the Boston Celtics (1978–80)
    Head coach of the Los Angeles Clippers (1985-87), Houston Rockets (1988-92), Detroit Pistons (1993-95) and the New York Knicks (2001-04)
    NBA Coach of the Year (1991)

    He is a fan of daredevil stunting.
    His teams are notorious for finishing below .500.
    He went 65-132 in three seasons as the Clippers head coach.
    Despite having minimal success with the Rockets, his success was often overshadowed by his team's playoff meltdowns.
    His career playoff record as a head coach was 2-9.

    He is the only player in Celtics history to play alongside both Bill Russell and Larry Bird.
    He was considered one of the league's premiere defensive players in his prime.
    He earned two championship rings during his career (1969, 1974).
    He guided the Rockets to a 50-32 record, which earned him Coach of the Year honors (1990-91).
    He was inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame (1991).
