Economist

The Resume

    (June 5, 1883-April 21, 1946)
    1st Baron Keynes of Tilton
Wrote 'The Economic Consequences of the Peace (1919),' 'A Revision of the Treaty (1922),' 'Treatise on Probability (1920),' 'A Tract on Monetary Reform (1923)' and 'The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money (1936)'
Considered the founder of modern macroeconomics

Why he might be annoying:

When he received a low score in economics on a civil service examination, he took it to mean that he knew more than his examiners.
He had gay affairs with other students during his college years.
After breaking up their 7 year relationship he supported painter Duncan Grant financially his entire life.
He married a Russian ballerina, perhaps as a beard, and was unable to have children.
He could be vicious to politicians who did not listen to his theories. He once called Lloyd George a 'goat-footed bard.'
Using numerous charts with complex economic data he confused the hell out of FDR during a visit to the White House.
He advocated deficit spending and high taxes as a way to lower unemployment.
He died of a stress-related heart attack over trying to rebuild his Wall Street losses.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was self-confident, optimistic and modest.
He wrote passionately against the World War I Versailles Treaty, correctly predicting it would not establish a lasting peace.
He advocated helping rebuild former enemies after a war in order to prevent them from being enemies again.
His economic theories were influential during the development of FDR's 'New Deal' programs.
Before his deficit spending policies were applied, unemployment in the United States was 17%. Afterwards it was barely 1%.
He was an excellent investor with his Cambridge fund increasing by a yearly average of 13.2% (while the national average was 0.5%).
He lost nearly all his fortune from the Wall Street crash and managed to rebuilt it slightly before his death.
