The Resume

    (September 8, 1972- )
Born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Canada
Signed with the Ottawa Senators as an undrafted free agent in 1993
Forward for the Ottawa Senators (1995-96), Boston Bruins (1996-97) and the Montreal Canadiens (1998-2000)
Sustained a career-ending injury after taking a slapshot to the throat (January 29, 2000)

Why he might be annoying:

His pro career saw him bounce back and forth between the NHL and the minor leagues.
He sustained a serious eye injury in the minors, after he was clipped with an errant stick.
He spent the entire 1997-98 season in the minors after he could not agree on a contract with the Bruins.
He drove from his hometown of Swift Current to Boston with the sole purpose of asking Harry Sinden to relinquish his rights to become a free agent.
His tenure with the Canadiens is defined by him diving in front of Chris Therien‘s slapshot and nearly dying on the ice as a result.

Why he might not be annoying:

He captained his hometown Swift Current Broncos to the WHL championship (1993).
He overcame the eye injury to reach the NHL two seasons later.
He said his decision to drive to Boston to ask for his release was done out of respect for Harry Sinden, cause he felt it would have been disrespectful to do it over the phone.
He wasn’t afraid to block shots and sacrifice his body to help his team.
He sustained both a collapsed lung and a fractured larynx after blocking Therien’s slapshot.
He avoided becoming the NHL’s second on-ice fatality (after Bill Masterton), due to the quick response by the Canadiens medical staff, which later told him he was minutes away from dying on the ice at the time of the incident.
He attempted a comeback months after the injury, but realized he was unable to continue his career due to the damage caused to his airways.
