Why United States of Tara might be annoying:

It's hard to keep track with Tara's multiple personalities.
Her altered states range from a flirty teenager to a loud, beer-drinking woman to a representation of her five-year old self.
Her husband feels as if he is not benefiting from the marriage despite constantly helping Tara out with her various alter egos.
There is rampant violence, sex and drugs depicted throughout the series.

Why United States of Tara might not be annoying:

Many TV critics praised Collette's leap from film to television.
Her son Max came out of the closet in the second season.
Many familiar faces such as Viola Davis and Joel Gretsch have made appearances on the show.
Collette won an Emmy for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series for the show's first season (2009).
