Why Gossip Girl might be annoying:

It is a teen girly show.
Kansas City Star's Aaron Barnhart summed it up in three words 'I hate it!'
It premiered a day earlier in Canada than in the US (September 18, 2007).
The series was originally pitched as a Lindsay Lohan.
Similar to shows from the Wonder Years<14971> to <14799>Desperate Housewives the main character narrates and is not seen.
The premiere episode had the lowest rating for the time slot.
It is like The O.C. moved to New York City especially since they both have the same creator.
Brian Lowry of Variety said it was mundane writing 'Gossip Girl hardly breaks any new ground.'
    The cast has zero chemistry.
Chicago Sun-Times Doug Elfman ripped it, writing 'It's one of the worst new series; but for its cardboard acting and writing, not for the morals.'
Linda Stasi of the NY Post hated it writing 'It's a nasty piece of work filled with underage sex, vulgar, hateful kids.'

Why Gossip Girl might not be annoying:

It was the first new Fall 2007 series to get a full season order.
Newark Star-Ledger's Alan Sepinwall wrote 'It's very well-done teen angst.'
Time Magazine James Poniewozik called it a 'clever saga of haves vs. have-mores proves the East Coast can be as enjoyably sudsy as the West.'
It is filmed in New York City.
CW made it available for free download prior to it's premiere.
