    Brutally murdered 12 people and injured eight others at the Naval Sea Systems Command headquarters at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. (September 16, 2013)
    He had been cited for several incidents of misconduct prior to his rampage.
    He was arrested in 2004 in Seattle, Washington for malicious mischief, after shooting out the tires of another man's vehicle in what he later described as the result of an anger-fueled 'blackout.'
    He was arrested again in 2008 for disorderly conduct.
    In 2010, he was arrested in Fort Worth for discharging a weapon within city limits.
    Despite his offenses and a history of mental illness, he was able to obtain a highly destructive weapon.
    His murder spree was the deadliest on a military campus since Nidal Malik Hasan's Fort Hood massacre in 2009.
    He joined the United States Navy in 2007.
    He served in Fleet Logistics Support Squadron 46 at Fort Worth, Texas.
    At the time of his death, Alexis was working online on a bachelor's degree in aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
    His rating was aviation electrician's mate and he had attained the rank of petty officer third class prior to the shooting.
