    Founded the Sparticist League (1914), which became the German Communist Party (1919)
    Published 'The Red Flag'
    Murdered by members of the right-wing Freikorps militia after an unsuccessful Communist coup

Why she might be annoying:

    She married solely for German citizenship.
    She contemplated suicide when the Socialist Party supported World War I.
    She considered the uprising of January, 1919, a mistake, but supported it once it began.
    The East German government simultaneously held annual memorials at her grave while suppressing her books.

Why she might not be annoying:

    At five, she suffered a hip ailment that left her with a permanent limp and sciatic pain.
    She was imprisoned repeatedly for protesting World War I.
    She criticized some of Lenin's dictatorial policies.
    She wrote, 'Freedom is always freedom for the one who thinks differently.'
    Only one of her killers was imprisoned for the crime, and he would receive an apology and financial compensation from the Nazi government.
