Started out as part of the rap duo, Big Tymers

Why he might be annoying:

    He collaborated with Meek Mill.
He has a reputation for short-changing the artists employed with his label.
He was arrested in Tennessee on charges of marijuana possession (2007).
Google searches for his name inevitably turn up content related to the Oscar-winning film of the same name.
He was caught in a lawsuit of Cash Money Records for copyright infringement by Thomas Marasciullo (2009).
Some have found his body language with Lil' Wayne to be extremely suggestive and inappropriate (calling him 'his son,' kissing onstage, etc.).
He carried on a long-term feud with Wayne over a $51 million lawsuit, during which time 'his son' repeatedly cussed him out during to his audience at events.
We all remember his heated walk-off interview with Charlamagne Tha God and The Breakfast Club in which he was caught on camera trying to intimidate them into putting 'some respek on my name' ('I ain't gonna say it no mo!')
The number of memes depicting him with his arms folded like a grumpy old man generated from the altercation came to rival the 'Crying Jordan' meme almost overnight.

Why he might not be annoying:

He lost his father when he was only five.
He grew up in foster care, within the Magnolia Projects of New Orleans' crime-ridden 'Third Ward.'
As a teenager, he spent close to two years in a correctional facility for drug dealing.
'I Got That Work' was certified Platinum by the RIAA after selling over 1 million copies (2002).
'Big Money Heavyweight' received Platinum Certification in 2003, and later Gold RIAA Certification in 2005.
He was promoted at Young Money (and later took on a leadership role in the Young Money Entertainment Label).
He was listed by Forbes as the fifth highest-earning figure in the hip hop industry, taking in an estimated $21 million in the year (2013).
He was falsely implicated in an attempted murder plot against Lil' Wayne, along with Young Thug.
He made lemons out of lemonade not only by releasing the hit 'Respek' video but also releasing an entire clothing line with slogans/catchphrases from the interview.
His 'Respek on My Name' meme traveled so quickly that Lebron James even borrowed it in an open letter addressed to his 'hater' critics following his 2016 NBA Championship win.
Fans tend to comment that while his own music can be inconsistent, his reputation as a requisite promoter and star-maker is second to none.
