The Resume
(October 29, 1993-October 27, 1993)
TV show starring Glenn Frey as a Los Angeles private eye
Co-starred Maria Pitillo and Aries Spears
Cancelled after one episode
Aired on CBS
Why South of Sunset might be annoying
It was cancelled after one episode when despite being heavily promoted during the World Series, it came in fourth in its time slot pulling a 6.1 in the Nielsen's which is still the lowest rating ever recorded for a Fall debut of TV show on a major network.
It was across the board awful; acting, (from a reasonably talented cast) writing, directing, and everything else.
Aries Spears portrayed an incredibly offensive, stereotypical, jive-talking black guy/ex-con.
It was an obvious ripoff of the 48 Hours movies, even stealing some of the dialogue.
It wasn't even shown in Los Angeles when its only episode was pre-empted by coverage of local wildfires.
Glenn Frey strangely had his makeup caked on, making him look like his skin was made out of silly putty.
The pilot was titled, 'Satyricon' which made no sense because Satyricon was an ancient Roman novel about a gay love triangle which was not even remotely what the episode was about.
Why South of Sunset might not be annoying
The photography was actually pretty good.
The main cast had some decent talent and later went on to bigger and better things.
Frey's character drove a very cool and superbly restored Pontiac GTO.
Cancelling it after one episode was stupid as six episodes had been produced which meant the money invested in them could never be recovered.
VH1 later showed all six episodes and they were later released on VHS.
