Since forming, the lineup changed considerably.
Only Gary Brooker, stayed with the group since they began.
Although Keith Reid is a member of the band, He never played or sang on any of Procol Harum's songs. He did write the lyrics, though.
Many of there songs are confusing, in particular 'A Whiter Shade of Pale.' Frontman Gary Brooker still doesn't understand it after playing it since 1967.

They may be the most unique new-wave bands ever.
'A Whiter Shade of Pale' was a worldwide hit. It hit number one in the UK and number 5 in the US.
Despite only having a single hit they managed to release several successful albums.
'A Whiter Shade of Pale' was voted the #1 in the BBC Radio 2's 100 Greatest Songs ever.
