The Resume

    (May 5, 1857-October 1, 1929)
    Born in Sheffield, Ohio
Birth name is John Lee Richmond
Pitcher/Outfielder for the Boston Red Stockings (1879), Worcester Worcesters (1880-1882), Providence Grays (1883) and the Cincinnati Red Stockings (1886)
Pitched the very first perfect game in Major League history (June 12, 1880)

Why he might be annoying:

He was one of eight children.
The longest time he played for a team in the majors was three years.
Despite his successful 1880 season, Worcester finished 5th place with a 40-43 losing record.
He had arm problems in his time in Providence.
His comeback in Cincinnati was a disappointment.

Why he might not be annoying:

He used to play baseball and football for Brown University.
He was the first left-handed Major League pitcher to win 30 or more games in a season, going 32-32 in 1880.
He tossed a drop ball, a rising fastball and a successful curveball (despite a Brown physics professor who tried to convince him than a ball curving in mid-air was impossible).
The perfect game he pitched, helped Worcester defeated the Cleveland Blues, 1-0.
He was able to graduate from Brown University a few days following his perfect game.
After his baseball career, he worked as a physician and as a high school chemistry teacher.
