    Born in Belshill, Scotland, United Kingdom
    Birth name was Alexander Matthew Busby
    Played for Manchester City (1928-36) and Liverpool (1936-39)
    Managed Manchester United (1945-69,1970-71)
    Led the team to five Football League championships (1952,1956-57,1965,1967) and a European Cup (1968)

Why he might be annoying:

    He left school at 16 to become a miner even though his principal said he had the potential to become a 'first-class school teacher.'
    According to his biographer, he never read a book in his adult life.
    When Liverpool offered him a coaching job but refused to give him the degree of control he wanted, he took the manager's job at their rival, Manchester United.

Why he might not be annoying:

    When he was seven, his father was killed in the Battle of the Somme.
    As player, he was considered one of the game's finest passers.
    He survived a plane crash that killed eight Manchester United players, despite being so badly injured that he twice received the Last Rites (1958).
    He was married to his wife Jean for 60 years until her death.
    He was one of the inaugural inductees into the English Football Hall of Fame (2002).
