Why she might be annoying:

    'The Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas' was written by Stein.
    When she wrote her actual autobiography, it ended with Stein's death, furthering the impression that she had no life outside of Stein's.
    She was a chain smoker.
    She had a mustache.

Why she might not be annoying:

    Pot brownies are nicknamed Alice B. Toklas brownies because she included a recipe for hashish fudge in her cookbook.
    She and Stein were decorated by the French government for their work with the American Fund for the French Wounded during World War I.
    Her relationship with Stein was chosen by 'Time' as one of the five great romances of the 20th century.
