    Born in Boston, Massachusetts
    Published the poetry collections 'A Dome of Many-Coloured Glass' (1912), 'Sword Blades and Poppy Seeds' (1914), 'Men Women and Ghosts' (1916)and 'What's O'Clock' (1925)

Why she might be annoying:

    She never went to college because it was not considered proper for an upper-class lady.
    She liked to sleep in until three in the afternoon.
    She feuded with Ezra Pound.
    When World War I broke out, she complained, 'And it was this month that my book of poems was coming out here. What attention will it get with this going on?'
    Worried about a possible wartime shortage, she ordered 10,000 of her favorite cigar brand.

Why she might not be annoying:

    Other poets mocked her weight problem (caused by a glandular condition), with Pound calling her a 'hippopoetess.'
    She was influenced by John Keats and wrote a biography of him.
    She wrote erotic poems for actress Ada Dwyer Russell.
    She won a posthumous Pulitzer Prize for 'What's O'Clock.'
