Why he might be annoying:

Both 'Sugar' Ray Robinson and 'Sugar' Ray Leonard were able to bounce back from career questioning defeats in dominating fashion against the men who defeated them, but Mosley could not (Vernon Forrest beat him twice, destroying him in the first fight, outboxing him in the second).
His father and head trainer, Jack Mosley, has been blamed for not stepping aside and letting a true trainer train Shane. If he had, Mosley most likely would have beaten Forrest in their rematch.
He briefly overtook Roy Jones Jr. as the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world, but as of todays rankings, he cannot be found on it.
He foolishly took an immediate rematch with Vernon Forrest, rather than taking other fights and reestablishing himself, and his subsequent defeat has left his career in limbo.

Why he might not be annoying:

His 12-round decision victory over Oscar De La Hoya provided the most exciting welterweight fight since 'Sugar' Ray Leonard defeated Tommy Hearns in 1981.
In 1998, he defended his lightweight title five times, almost unheard of in this day-and-age of boxing.
When moving up to the welterweight division, he was told he was too small and his speed and power would not carry up, but he silenced his doubters with knockout after knockout.
Even with his two consecutive losses to Vernon Forrest, he looks to once again move up in weight where he can fight big-money bouts with Oscar De La Hoya, Fernando Vargas, and Bernard Hopkins (although Forrest is threatening to do the same, and has proven to be Mosley's achilles heal).
