Student

The Resume

    (1927- )
    Born in Atlanta, Georgia
Created by Georgia Tech student Ed Smith when he received a 2nd enrollment form
    Earned a bachelor's degree (1930) and master's degree
Described to incoming freshmen as the school's greatest alumnus

Why he might be annoying:

    He is fictional.
Smith originally planned to name his creation George P. Butler after his high school principal but chickened out on the last name.
Smith would do all his schoolwork twice, changing his handwriting and style slightly to avoid tipping off the professors, and would take tests twice, one under each name.
His name is often used as an alias by Georgia Tech students perpetrating pranks.
    He has a Twitter account.

Why he might not be annoying:

When administrators declared that the new computerized admissions system would stop Burdell from enrolling, hackers signed him up for every class offered -- over 3,000 credit hours (1969).
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported his engagement to Agnes Scott College's equally fictitious Ramona Cartwright (1958).
His 50th wedding anniversary was announced on 'A Prairie Home Companion.' (2006 -- based on the previous entry, they jumped the gun by two years)
He was a member of Mad magazine's board of directors (1969-81) and a production assistant for South Park's website.
He led online voting for Time's 2001 Person of the Year.
