Why he might be annoying:

He was married three times, divorced twice.
He had a number of unsuccessful careers before getting into cartooning, including being a farmer, woodcutter, mule driver, cowboy and printer.
He dropped out of a correspondence course in drawing after four lessons.
He quit working on Disney films because the studio air conditioning aggravated his sinus problems.

Why he might not be annoying:

Stephen Spielberg and George Lucas acknowledged that the rolling boulder booby trap at the begining of 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' was inspired by Barks' Uncle Scrooge adventure 'The Seven Cities of Cibola.'
Lucas called his stories 'a priceless part of our literary heritage.'
Will Eisner called him 'the Hans Christian Andersen of comic books.'
His Donald Duck stories were ranked #7 on Comics Journal's list of the 100 top comics, while his Uncle Scrooge stories were #20.
