Why he might be annoying:

In his early teens, he was busted for shoplifting and delivering drugs.
He dropped out of school in the fifth grade.
He took advantage of the Prohibition of the 1920's to create an explosive growth in the mob.
When he 'downsized,' he usually did so by permanently eliminating colleagues.
Frank Sinatra was his good pal.
He made organized crime much more effective in its activities of prostitution, gambling and drug dealing.

Why he might not be annoying:

His father had labored in the Sicilian sulphur pits.
He grew up in the slums of New York City.
He survived many assassination attempts.
New York City special prosecutor Thomas E. Dewey convicted Luciano on 62 counts of compulsory prostitution (1936). He received a sentence of 30 to 50 years in prison.
He used his 'organization' in World War II to fight Adolf Hitler, by putting the word out for dockworkers, fishermen and hoodlums to become the eyes and ears of naval intelligence.
When asked if he would do it all again, he said, 'I'd do it legal. I learned too late that you need just as good a brain to make a crooked million as an honest million. These days you apply for a license to steal from the public. If I had my time again, I'd make sure I got that license first.'
