Why she might be annoying:

She changed her name because she felt people would find it difficult to pronounce 'Caliste.'
After her hit 'Mr. Big Stuff' came out she had a disagreement with Stax, her record company, and quit.
She then bounced around from one small record label to another.
She went 12 years between recording albums (1985-97).

Why she might not be annoying:

When her career didn't take off for her in the 1960's, she had to take a job as a cafeteria worker at Loyola University to make ends meet.
'Mr. Big Stuff' was a smash hit in 1971, topping Billboard's R&B Single's chart for five weeks and landing #2 on the pop side.
The hit went double platinum and earned her a Grammy Award nomination.
She performs in her 60's and did shows with Donna Summer and Gloria Gaynor.
