Why he might be annoying:

During a 1989 Playoff game, he ripped up a Vancouver Canuck jersey.
With Calgary leading 4-0, he taunted the Edmonton Oiler bench. The Oilers squirted him and eventually coach Craig MacTavish ripped out Harvey the Hound's tongue and threw it into the crowd. The Oilers went on to score three goals but still lost 4-3 (January 20, 2003).
'Once we got the tongue out of his mouth,' Mactavish said 'we started to turn things around a little bit. If we scored that last goal to tie it, I was going looking for Harvey the Hound.'
Pat Quinn said of Harvey 'Some people think it's cool to demean players, but there's no call for it in my opinion.'
The Flames admitted that Harvey should not have been by the opposition's bench.

Why he might not be annoying:

Grant Kelba, who originated Harvey (1984-99), said: 'As a mascot, you push the envelope and walk a thin line but I never got caught stepping over it.'
After the game, Harvey, wore a big long red scarf as his tongue.
He does charity work.
He loves Buffalo Wings.
He got some fun publicity for the NHL.
