Religious Figure

The Resume

    Ancient Semitic god
Worshiped most especially by the Amorites
Believed to be the ruler of the Philistine pantheon of gods
    His name meant grain

Why he might be annoying:

He was the god of grain. Boring!
He was a fish from the waist down which doesn't really fit with the whole grain god thing.
According to the Bible, King Saul's head was displayed in one of his temples.
When the Ark of the Covenant was captured and displayed in his temple, the statue of Dagon kept falling down.
Samson's last official act was to tear one of his temples down.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was featured in the writings of H. P. Lovecraft and John Milton.
He is a demon lord in Dungeons & Dragons.
As ancient gods go he wasn't so bad: no human sacrifice needed and he made the grain grow.
