He ignored the 911 dispatcher who told him thirteen times to stay inside and wait for police to arrive.
The two burglars were shot in the back.
The shooting triggered the inevitable wave of protests and counter-protests.

Why he might not be annoying:

When his daughter's husband died, he went back to work so she could stay at home with her children.
The men he shot were illegal aliens and members of a Houston burglary ring.
One burglar responded to Horn's order to freeze by charging him.
He received death threats after the shooting.
