Why he might be annoying:

He describes himself as 'one of the greatest statesman and visionaries of the 20th century.'
He illegally declared independence from the United Kingdom (1965).
He refused to allow African majority-rule and brutally suppressed African nationalist movements.
His white-favored policies led to international condemnation and guerilla war against his regime.
His government supported the rebel movement in the Mozambique civil war.
His autobiographies are revisionist and downplay the racism and cruelties of Rhodesia.
He continued to blames the United Kingdom for forcing him to negotiate for majority rule.
He was unrepentant about his paternalistic government.
He said that African culture should be brought up to the 'standards of Western civilization.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He joined the RAF in World War II.
He diversified the economy of Zimbabwe and helped turn it into a prosperous country.
He eventually signed a treaty with Robert Mugabe, ending the civil war.
He lived a simple life on a farm in Zimbabwe.
