Why he might be annoying:

When he was 40, he portrayed a 90-year-old man in 'Nartaki.'
He was typecast as nobles and father figures.
He was tone deaf, which created complications when he was cast as the music-loving aristocrat of 'The Music Room.'
He drank heavily, with director Satyajit Ray commenting, 'He was almost an alcoholic. He was absolutely fresh in the morning, but in the evening he was insufferable.'

He had perfect diction.
He organized relief efforts during the Bengal famine (1942-43).
He was a founding member and first secretary of the Artistes Guild of Calcutta, an association dedicated to the rights and welfare of movie actors and technicians.
He was hailed by director Satyajit Ray and Bollywood star Raj Kapoor as the greatest actor in the history of Indian cinema.
