Why she might be annoying:

She became a prostitute at 15.
At 17, she got pregnant and went on welfare.
She turned to stripping to support herself, then returned to prostitution.
A prostitute trying to become a lawyer: the jokes almost write themselves. ('What's the difference between a lawyer and prostitute? The prostitute stops screwing you after you die.')
When one of her professors used the term 'prostitute,' she immediately interjected 'sex worker.'
She said about her proposed memoirs, 'It'll be a mix of Legally Blonde meets Pretty Woman, but a lot more X-rated.'

Why she might not be annoying:

She entered the sex trade when she answered an ad asking for topless waitressing and stripping at private parties: 'I was naive. I thought that was actually what we were going to do.'
She initiated a partnership with Toronto police so sex workers can report assaults by clients without fear of being arrested for prostitution.
She received Toronto's first Public Health Champion Award for her work with prostitutes (2008).
Despite not graduating high school, she aced the LSATs and entered Osgoode under a program for 'mature students with special circumstances.'
She said, 'The whole reason why I want to be a lawyer is because I think some of the laws are screwed up.'
When readers of the Toronto Star raised $20,000 to pay her tuition, she said 'I’m not used to feeling accepted and feeling loved or well-liked.... I’m not quite sure how to react to it. It’s definitely one I’d like to learn how to react to.'
