After Beatlemania hit, his records with the Beatles were endlessly repackaged to cash in.
His high-energy stage shows in Hamburg were fueled by amphetamines.
He would yell obscenities at members of his band and once hit his piano player over the head with a tambourine.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was reportedly the first person allowed to play electric guitar on the BBC when he appeared on the show 'Oh Boy!' (1958)
The Beatles reportedly came to Brian Epstein's attention when a fan requested a copy of 'My Bonnie.'
He came under fire while entertaining soldiers in Vietnam and a member of his band was killed.
Reuters mistakenly reported that he had died.
