The Resume

    (February 6, 1833-May 12, 1864)
Birth name is James Ewell Brown Stuart
Graduated West Point and joined U.S Army (1854)
Assisted Robert E. Lee in crushing John Brown's raid at Harpers Ferry (1859)
Resigned from the US Army to join the Confederate Army (May 14, 1861)
Appointed captain of cavalry, CSA (May 24, 1861)
Appointed colonel, 1st Virginia Cavalry (July 16, 1861)
Appointed brigadier general, CSA (September 24, 1861)
Appointed major general, CSA (July 25, 1862)
Served in the battles of Seven Days, Second Battle of Bull Run, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg and the Wilderness

Why he might be annoying:

His job in the Civil War was to be the eyes and ears of the Confederate Army. Instead, he chased newspaper headlines and raided irrelevant Union supplies. While in the process, he may have cost his army the battle at Gettysburg.
He may only have made it up the ranks because his wife's brother was brigadier General John Rogers Cooke of the Confederacy and his friend was 'Stonewall' Jackson.
He commanded the Southern horsemen at Brandy Station, the largest cavalry engagement on the American continent (which ended in a stalemate).
He was commonly referred to by his initials 'JEB.'

Why he might not be annoying:

His exploits as a cavalry raider boosted his army's morale.
After his uniform and trademark plumed hat were captured at Second Bull Run, he over-ran the Union lines and not only retrieved his full uniform but also captured important information regarding Union troops movement.
He led one raid which inflicted 230 Union casualties while losing only 27 of his own men (1862).
A Union sharpshooter (at a distance of thirty feet) shot him at Yellow Tavern on the outskirts of Richmond (May 11, 1864).
He is considered one of the all time greatest cavalry commanders and a hero of the South.
He graduated Emory and Henry College (1850).
