    Born in Memphis, Tennessee
    Formed the Rock and Roll Trio with his brother Dorsey and guitarist Paul Burlison
    With the Rock and Roll Trio recorded the singles ‘Train Kept a-Rollin’’ (1956) and ‘Lonesome Train’ (1956)
    Solo recorded the singles ‘Dreamin’’ (1960), ‘You’re Sixteen’ (1960), ‘Little Boy Sad’ (1961), and ‘God, Country and My Baby’ (1961)
    Father of singer Rocky Burnette

Why he might be annoying:

    He tried to take up boxing professionally but quit after suffering a broken nose.
    The Rock and Roll Trio auditioned for Sam Philips’s Sun Records and were turned down.
    He was broke when he decided to relocate from New York City to Los Angeles, so he hitched a ride in a boxcar (1957)
    His biggest hit, ‘You’re Sixteen,’ has been eclipsed by Ringo Starr’s chart-topping cover version.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was a Golden Gloves champion boxer in high school.
    The Rock and Roll Trio won three episodes in a row on The Original Amateur Hour (1955).
    ’Train Kept a-Rollin’’ was included on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s list ‘500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll.’
    He wrote three hit songs for Ricky Nelson, ‘Just a Little Too Much,’ ‘Believe What You Say,’ and ‘Waiting in School’ (the last two written with his brother Dorsey).
    He drowned when he was thrown into the water after a cabin cruiser ran into his fishing boat.
