She came back to win an Olympic gold medal after getting into a major ski accident that almost ended her career (December 4, 1996).
Months after winning the Olympic gold, she again crashed and broke her left leg and tore the ACL in her right knee (Friday March 13, 1998 - during the World Cup Finals).
She has her own Nike sneaker.
She is fearless.
She was knocked unconscious at a meet in Sweden, got up a few moments later, went back to the top of the hill and raced again.
She likes a challenge.
She figures that her injuries keep her a fan favorite, because she has to fight back to win.
