The Resume

    Born in United States
    Lived circa 2000 BC

Why he might be annoying:

Her name means 'stranger' in Hebrew.
When she became pregnant she behaved arrogantly towards Sarah, who threw her out.
Her son may have bullied his younger half brother Isaac.
When banished yet again by Sarah, she wandered aimlessly until Ishmael nearly died of thirst.

Why he might not be annoying:

She may have been the daughter of a pharaoh.
She was banished the second time because Sarah saw Ishmael as a threat to her own son Isaac's inheritance.
Abraham did little to shield her from Sarah's abuse.
An angel appeared and gave her a pep talk both times she was banished, assuring her that Ishmael was destined for greatness.
African Americans and Palestinians have interpreted her story as an allegory of their own situations.
