The Resume

    (December 4, 1977- )
Born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina
Member of the South Carolina House of Representatives (2018-20)
Represents South Carolina’s 1st District (assumed office January 3, 2021)

Why she might be annoying:

She was in a long-running feud with South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, as a result of being a business partner with Will Folks, who claimed to have had an extramarital affair with Haley.
She challenged incumbent Senator Lindsay Graham in the Republican primary, getting 6.5% of the vote (2014).
She cited a recent cold snap in South Carolina as evidence that global warming could not be happening (2014).
One of her first acts after being elected to the state House of Representatives was to campaign for passage of Amendment 83… which had already passed a year earlier.
Her account was suspended by Twitter for a month while it investigated whether she had spread Russian propaganda while campaigning for Donald Trump (2016).
After the assault on the Capitol, she said ‘We do need to find a way to hold the President accountable,’ then voted against impeaching Trump.

Why she might not be annoying:

She was raped when she was sixteen.
She was the first woman to graduate the Corps of Cadets program at the Citadel military academy.
While in the state House of Representatives, she sponsored a prison reform bill that ended the shackling of pregnant female prisoners.
She celebrated her election to the US House of Representatives by hosting a press event outside the Waffle House where she got her first job as a teen: ‘I wanted to finish where this all started.’
She denounced the QAnon conspiracy theory.
She presciently decided to send her two children back to South Carolina the day before the storming of the Capitol: ‘So grateful my mama instincts kicked in and they weren’t here.’
