CBS renamed his studio 'The Ed Sullivan Theater' which David Letterman uses for his show (Dec. 10, 1967).
This was CBS' 'cash cow' even when it was cancelled (1971).
His twin brother and a younger sister died in childhood.
He detested bigotry and irresponsibility.
During World War II, he raised $226,000 for Army Emergency Relief and $249,000 for the American Red Cross.
He was married to Sylvia Weinstein for 42 years, until her death (March 1973).
He helped bring Beatlemania to the U.S.
A song in tribute to Ed Sullivan was sung in the Broadway show/movie 'Bye Bye Birdie.'
