Why he might be annoying:

He broke into television doing commercials as 'Jack Narz, the man from Barr's,' a men's clothing store.
His breakthrough game show, 'Dotto,' was rigged.
Afterwards, he said, 'I always felt I was a 'day late and dollar short' kind of guy.... Maybe there were some shows I didn't get because they said, 'He was on that show, maybe we shouldn't take a shot on him.'
He would tape an entire season of 'Concentration' episodes in nine weeks and go golfing the other ten months of the year.

Why he might not be annoying:

He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross as a fighter pilot during World War II.
He passed a polygraph test showing he was unaware that 'Dotto' was fixed.
He appeared on an episode of 'Password Plus' hosted by Tom Kennedy and switched places with his brother to host for half an episode.
He and Kennedy were co-recipients of the Bill Cullen Award for Lifetime Achievement from the Game Show Congress (2007).
Game show expert Steve Beverly said, 'He was the Dean Martin of game show hosts... because he was so easygoing, so smooth.'
