Baseball Player

The Resume

    (April 26, 1972- )
Born in Cerro Azul, Veracruz, Mexico
Pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates (1996-2000)
Also pitched for the Mexico City Tigers (2002-11)

Why he might be annoying:

His major league career ended prematurely as a result of arm injuries.
Despite retiring from the majors, he returned to active play in the Mexican League in 2002, where he pitched for nine seasons.
Some baseball pundits felt he was overused during his four years with the Pirates.
He didn't receive a lot of exposure in mainstream baseball circles as a result of playing on awful Pirates teams.
He was mistakenly believed to be a relative of former AL Rookie of the Year Marty Cordova.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was the ace of the 'Freak Show' team that surprised the baseball world, in a season where they were expected to lose 100+ games (1997).
He and Ricardo Rincon pitched the first modern day no-hitter in extra innings (1997).
He posted reasonably well numbers on a talent thin Pirates roster.
He excelled in pitching, despite the fact he didn't take up the sport until the age of 17.
He was described as being humble and modest by former teammates.
