Why FX might be annoying:

It is owned by News Corporation.
Though FX had a large audience in its debut the budget was simply too high for the clearance the network was receiving.
Even though it was based in New York, many New York cable network did not carry the channel.
For a while, it was branded as FX Gone Cable.

Why FX might not be annoying:

They were one of the first TV networks to utilize the Internet.
It gave us Rescue Me.
In light of their more risque and grisly programming, they have defied the Parents Television Council and the FCC.
Many of their original series have gone on to win Emmys and Golden Globes.
There is no box.
