He is a pretty boy.
During the 2007 IIHF World U18 Championships, he failed to be selected on the Canadian junior team.
Some hockey pundits originally criticized the Kings' decision to name him to the roster as an 18 year old.
He was considered a franchise savior when he was drafted.
Why he might not be annoying
He grew up a Los Angeles Kings fan.
Prior to the selection of John Tavares, he was the highest drafted player of Portuguese descent to be drafted at the NHL Entry Draft.
Along with Kings teammate Anze Kopitar, he helped revive the Kings' playoff prospects.
He was the youngest member selected to Canada's 2010 Olympic Men's hockey team.
Some hockey analysts compare his playing style to Ray Bourque.
