The Resume

    (1987- )
    Born in Houston, Texas
Original formation: Robert L. ‘Hoot’ Gibson, George Nelson, Brewster Shaw and Jim Wetherbee
Made up entirely of NASA astronauts
Appeared on Good Morning America (December 7, 1995)
Not to be confused with the Michael Hutchence formation

Why they might be annoying:

It goes through more changes than a rush-hour bus lineup.
Ironically, they claim to draw the line at material with spatial connotations.
The original members guard the recording of their first live performance (League Park, Texas) as though it were a rare comic book collection.
They do not put out CDs. (Wait, that might not be such a bad thing).

Why they might not be annoying:

The name is a reference to maximum dynamic pressure, leading to maximum aerodynamic stress.
The change in lineup is mainly due to crew assignments and retirements.
They were borne mainly out of the Challenger Disaster, as a means of improving crew morale.
For the most part, they book their own gigs.
They don’t have designs on being in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
